Insights: News Kilpatrick Grows Government Relations Team with Addition of Experienced Advisor

RALEIGH (March 19) – Kilpatrick announces the addition of Trafton Dinwiddie as a Government Relations Advisor in the firm’s Raleigh office. Mr. Dinwiddie joins as seasoned government relations advisor with a specialization in state lobbying. He advises clients on a wide range of matters involving the North Carolina General Assembly and state agencies, including boards and commissions within the Executive Branch.

Mr. Dinwiddie most recently worked as a Government Relations Advisor at Ward and Smith, where he supported businesses, associations, and government entities with advocacy throughout all stages.

Prior to his role at Ward and Smith, Mr. Dinwiddie served as a Policy Advisor to North Carolina House Speaker Tim Moore, specializing in agriculture, energy, environmental, and state regulatory issues. He played a key role in developing and passing several state budgets and was instrumental in advancing significant energy legislation during his time at the General Assembly. Trafton also led negotiations on complex issues, including environmental regulations in agriculture, emerging contaminants like PFAS, and flood resiliency and mitigation efforts along the North Carolina coast.

Mr. Dinwiddie holds a Bachelor of Arts from North Carolina State University and is an active Eagle Scout.

The addition of Mr. Dinwiddie follows Reagan Larkin and Story Oliver joining the firm as Policy Analysts earlier this year. In 2024, Kilpatrick also announced Senior Government Relations Advisor Dylan Reel joining Kilpatrick in Raleigh and Government Relations Advisor Keval Patel joining the firm in Washington, D.C.
